About the Book

AI can produce polished work in seconds. But who is doing the learning?

AI for Purposeful Learning helps educators move beyond a tool-first approach and make thoughtful decisions about when, why, and how AI should support learning. At its center is LEARN-AI, a flexible compass built around Learning Purpose, Evidence of Thinking, Agency, Reflection, and Next-Step Improvement.

The book also includes access to the LEARN-AI Planning Partner, a specially trained chatbot designed to help educators think through purposeful classroom use of AI. It is not a lesson-plan generator. It serves as a planning companion, asking focused questions while keeping educational decisions and professional judgment with the teacher.

Through educational stories, classroom applications, practical tools, and digital resources, Dr. Le Dinh Bao Quoc shows how teachers can benefit from AI while keeping learners actively involved in thinking, deciding, explaining, and improving.

Praise for the Book

“
“AI for Purposeful Learning is the book educators need right now – clear, principled, and deeply human. It can help you refocus AI use on thinking, agency, and growth, not just shortcuts or polished output.”
Robert Stroud, Ph.D. Professor, Hosei University, Japan
“
“Dr. Quoc’s AI for Purposeful Learning is an essential resource for today’s educators. By placing pedagogy before technology, the innovative LEARN-AI framework ensures that AI enhances – rather than replaces – student agency, visible thinking, and meaningful learning. This practical and thought-provoking guide demonstrates how AI can be integrated with purpose, keeping student growth at the heart of teaching. A transformative read.”
Prof. Marina Falasca Professor, STAR Scholars Network Argentina
“
“AI for Purposeful Learning is a timely and much-needed contribution to AI in education. Through the LEARN-AI Framework, Quoc gives educators a practical, learner-centered way to use AI with intention, by keeping student thinking, agency, reflection, and growth at the heart of teaching and learning.”
Joseph Rene Corbeil, Ed.D. Professor, Educational Technology Teaching and Learning, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, USA
“
“Fear that increased reliance on AI make your EFL learners lose the chance to process and acquire the taught language? This is a book for you! Many ideas from this book help you confidently integrate AI into your language classroom and I love the suggested LEARN-AI classroom routine: Before/During/After AI (Chapter 16), assisting learners in producing the language then reflecting on how they improve it with AI.”
Ha Van Sinh, Ed.D. Founder and Director PTC Language Center, Vietnam
“
“At last, guidance for educators to navigate the AI landscape with a focus on critical thinking, meaning, purpose, and intention! Dr. Quoc suggests that the most important question is not whether AI is useful, but whether AI use is educationally purposeful, and then lays out a framework to support teachers in their students’ success. This text supports teachers to use AI with greater purpose, care, professional judgment, and, dare I say, heart.”
Dawn Wink, Ph.D. Professor, Language and Literacy Education, Eastern New Mexico University, USA
“
“AI for Purposeful Learning stands out for its calm, classroom-grounded voice. Instead of chasing platforms, it offers a stable, human-centred framework that helps educators design AI-supported lessons with clarity, rigor, and deep respect for learners. The accompanying LEARN-AI Planning Partner is a genuinely useful thinking partner, supporting purposeful planning without diluting teacher judgment.”
Uyen Pham Assessment Services Lead, ASEAN Australasia Japan Korea Cambridge University Press and Assessment
“
“Dr. Quoc presents a compelling vision for the future of AI in education; one grounded not in technological enthusiasm alone but in sound pedagogy and human development. In AI for Purposeful Learning, he moves the conversation beyond AI tools and redirects our attention to what truly matters: The learner. This book offers educators a practical yet inspiring framework for using AI with intention, fostering critical thinking, learner agency and authentic growth. It is a highly valuable contribution to the future of education.”
